Why I Became a Doula

After birthing all three of my babies in a hospital without medical interventions, I became deeply passionate about helping others feel connected to their bodies, informed about their options, and supported in using their voices.

My own experiences taught me that birth preparation is about so much more than learning what happens during labor. It is about tending to the mind, body, and spirit; understanding the systems we may need to navigate; and building trust in ourselves while making room for the unexpected.

I became a doula to offer the kind of grounded, compassionate presence every person deserves during one of life’s most vulnerable and transformative thresholds. I am not here to tell you how to birth or to define what a “good” birth looks like. I am here to help you feel informed, respected, witnessed, and supported as you discover what feels true for you.

Birth From Within: A Four-Session Labor Preparation Series

This series is not about achieving one particular kind of birth. It is about helping you understand your options, listen to your body, identify what matters to you, and prepare for birth with greater confidence and flexibility.

Through movement, breathwork, meditation, education, self-inquiry, and hands-on partner practice, you will deepen trust in yourself while preparing for the many ways birth may unfold.

Whether you are planning to birth at home, at a birth center, or in a hospital—and whether this is your first baby or your last—this series offers meaningful preparation for you and your birth partner.

This five-hour series is divided into four 75-minute sessions and includes:

  • Exploring what it means to birth from within while navigating Western medical systems

  • Practicing breathing strategies, comfort measures, and hypnobirthing-inspired techniques

  • Learning supportive labor positions, movement, massage, and partner practices

  • Helping your birth partner feel prepared, involved, and confident

  • Practicing informed decision-making and communication with your care team

  • Creating your birth philosophy, birth preferences, and fourth-trimester support plan

  • Preparing emotionally for the unpredictable and transformative nature of birth
